A comprehensive solution for a pocket project

Small projects can often be deceptively complex, and this one was no exception. We were engaged by a contractor on behalf of Swindon Borough Council to develop the lighting design into a for-construction package.

High stakes, swift turn-around

This pocket park is part of the broader Heritage Action Zone initiative, aimed at redeveloping a significant portion of Swindon's heritage town center. With construction already underway and the seating already in production, we had to work quickly and in close coordination with other disciplines to create an electrical package that seamlessly integrated the lighting proposals. We delivered electrical calculations, ducting networks, control logic, and standard details at an accelerated pace to avoid abortive and potential remedial work.

Maintenance-led innovation

Faced with on-site conditions that prevented trenching, we devised an innovative solution to power the bench lighting. Our approach effectively mitigates water ingress, protecting the electrical components and ensuring durability. By integrating the power supply directly into the furniture, we streamlined installation and reduced construction costs. This design not only preserves the aesthetic of the park but also allows for easy access during maintenance, ensuring the system remains reliable and efficient over time.
